Domestic Support Workers

ADSSI Limited, trading as Dungog & District Neighbourcare, has been providing in home/community services for over 30 years’.

We deliver a mix of in-home aged care services including household help, personal care, respite, shopping, nursing, transport and Meals on Wheels across a range of funded and private programs including Home Care Packages, the NDIS and Commonwealth Home Support Program.  Through our programs, we support locals to remain living safely and independently in their home.

We’re hiring Domestic Support Workers to provide quality cleaning services in our clients’ homes.

Our Domestic Support Workers provide general cleaning services for our clients, such as vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, doing the laundry including hanging out and bringing in and ironing if needed; changing sheets/, making the bed, unaccompanied shopping from a client list.

You will need:

  • The ability to provide quality cleaning services safely and effectively within a community care environment across the Dungog district;
  • An ‘Apply First Aid’ Certificate;
  • A current Criminal History Check;
  • A current Working with Children Check;
  • A current NSW driver’s license and a safe driving record;
  • The use of a reliable well-presented vehicle that has comprehensive insurance cover;
  • To be available to work a flexible roster;
  • Ability to use smart phones and mobile technology such as tablet devices;
  • An understanding of Work Health Safety Act including risk management, manual handling and infection control;
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively;
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Previous experience working with older people and people with a disability is desirable;
  • ADSSI requires all staff to be either fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or to be booked in for a vaccination unless medical evidence is provided showing the person cannot be vaccinated. The first vaccination must be administered before starting work at ADSSI.

The role:

You will work with clients in their homes and community, across the Dungog District, supporting them with practical things that help make their day-to-day life easier.

If you are passionate/experienced in working with older people, or people with a disability, this is an exciting career opportunity.

You will need:

  • A Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent) with emphasis on aged care OR disability.  Medication skill set is also highly regarded;
  • Understanding of current direction, standards and guidelines in the industry;
  • First Aid certificate;
  • Current NSW driver’s license and a safe driving record;
  • Use of a reliable well-presented vehicle with comprehensive insurance cover;
  • Current Working With Children Check;
  • Australian Nationally Coordinated Criminal History that is less than one year old.
  • ADSSI requires all staff to be either fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or to be booked in for a vaccination unless medical evidence is provided showing the person cannot be vaccinated. The first vaccination must be administered before starting work at ADSSI.

Desirable

Previous experience working with older people and people with a disability and knowledge of NDIS, Consumer Directed Care and Home Care Package Guidelines.

Background Checks:

The successful applicant will be required to a current WWCC clearance and undergo an aged care part exclusion police check and a medical assessment. People with criminal records are not automatically barred from applying for this position.  Each application will be considered on its merits. The criminal offences that preclude a person from working in aged care are:

  • a conviction for murder or sexual assault; or
  • a conviction of, and sentence to imprisonment for, any other form of assault.

Any person with a conviction for a precluding offence must not be employed, contracted, hired, retained, or accepted by an aged care service subsidised by the Commonwealth.
